jjg webA basic understanding of ergonomics is vital to making the workplace safer and more efficient. In this series of video chats produced by the late Jim Galante, long-time Director of Business Development at Southworth, a variety of ergonomic topics are explored and suggestions are provided on ways to make work faster, safer and easier.

About Jim
Jim was a legend in the material handling industry. In his over 50 years in the industry he worked with and visited hundreds of facilities to conduct material handling task evaluations. He was a 16 term Chairman of the EASE (Ergonomic Assist Systems and Equipment) Council of MHI and received the Material Handling Education Foundation Exceptional Achievement Award for his efforts. Jim was largely responsible for and was a principle editor of the Ergonomic Guidelines for Manual Material Handling. This major, internationally recognized publication defines the problems and presents the solutions to solve the No. 1 cause of worker injury in the workplace.

Jim was also a coveted speaker at trade shows and ergonomic / safety conferences around the globe. His good nature, wit, wisdom and desire to share his knowledge not only left crowds smiling, but feeling like they learned something too. While he may be gone, his message of how the simple, practical application of ergonomics pays dividends in the form of increased productivity and worker safety will resonate long into the future.
